Personal Injury Protection

Mandatory:

Basic Personal Injury Protection provides coverage for you, your family, and any

passengers covered under your policy, regardless of who is responsible for the

accident. Basic PIP will pay the following benefits, up to the limits of your policy, for

losses or expenses incurred because of injuries sustained by an insured person as a

result of an auto accident:

Medical Expenses- up to $4,500 per person

Loss of Income- up to 85% of lost income up to $900 per month for 1 year, unless such amount payable is deemed includable in gross income for federal income tax purposes. This is effective the date the insured person first becomes unable to engage in available and appropriate gainful activity.

Home Assistance- up to $25 per day (Essential Services)

Funeral Expenses- up to $2,000 per person

Rehabilitation Expenses- up to $4,500 per person

Survivor Benefits- Disability/loss of income benefits up to $900 per month for a maximum of 1 year and in-home assistance benefits up to $25 per day for up to 365 days. This shall be paid for a period not longer than one year after the insured person’s death, reduced by the number of months such person received work loss benefits prior to such person’s death.
